There have been rumours of the former sweethearts pairing up again for years, but it seems that the long awaited duet between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake is finally back on.
The pair - who dated in their teens and split in 2002 - will be teaming up for a song on the Toxic singer's next album, which is due at the end of the year.
'They’re planning to record a duet – a dance track – for her new album,’ a source close to the singer reportedly told Life & Style magazine.

Britney will be teaming up with former flame Justin Timberlake for a track which will be on her new album
Justin and Britney have had little contact since their split six years ago, but the
27-year-old is said to be willing to put the past aside in order to help his former love.
‘He’s been sent her new music, and his feedback is really positive,’ an insider said to be close to the star is quoted as saying.
The former couple were supposed to team up for her last album, but troubled Spears missed her recording session with legendary producer Timbaland at his Virginia Beach studio last August.
She is also thought to have avoided seeing Justin at the VMA’s in 2007 when he attempted to wished her good luck before her disastrous performance.
But the mother-of-two is now said to be keen to show her ex that she has changed.
She’s strong again – and she wants Justin to see that. Musically she wants to blow him away,’ the source added.
However it seems unlikely that the pair will reignite their relationship.
Justin is currently dating actress Jessica Biel and reportedly 'only wants friendship from Britney.'
Britney is currently recording for the album and recently described it as her 'best work ever'.
"I think it is more urban. I'm working with producers who are just amazing," she told OK magazine.
She said that she had written most of the material and was spending time at the piano every day working on new songs.

Justin Timberlake and Britney were supposed to work together and record a duet for Britney’s latest album Blackout, but the troubled pop star reportedly failed to show up for a scheduled recording session at Timbaland’s Virginia Beach studio last August, according to PageSix.
“Timbaland set aside a week out of his crazy schedule to do this - and then, just before she was supposed to fly out, Britney abruptly canceled the session and refused to do the song,” a source said.
“It’s crazy,” the insider added. “She’s looking for a comeback, and this would have not only been a huge hit, but something she could have opened the MTV Video Awards with and really blown everyone away.”
The pop star, who begins her Sticky & Sweet tour in Cardiff next month, is understood to be keen to team up with both singers, who used to date each other, on stage.
Spears spokesperson has already confirmed that the singer is to shot a promo video for Madonna's tour, which will be shown during the show.
But Madonna now wants Timberlake to join her in person, according to the Sun newspaper.
“Madonna is always trying to raise the bar and Britney and Timberlake on the same stage would be perfect,” a source told the newspaper.
“They have both been asked but I think both are a bit reluctant. Britney would find it all a bit emotional and JT might not fancy it. More likely is that they both appear on different dates.
"But if anyone can make this happen it’s Madonna.”
Timberlake makes a guest appearance on Madonna's latest album 'Hard Candy' and performed with her during a secret show in New York earlier this year.
